Beechwood Homes enters administration as Worrells pursues sale

Fast-track transaction or contract transfer pursued to complete homes and minimise disruption for customers

Beechwood Homes (NSW) Pty Ltd and seven related entities entered voluntary administration after mounting pressure on the residential builder, with insolvency specialists from Worrells appointed to pursue a rapid restructuring or sale.

Director Vittorio “Vic” Cavasinni appointed Graeme Beattie and Aaron Lucan as voluntary administrators on April 22.

The administration places one of New South Wales’ homebuilding groups under external control at a time when unfinished residential projects and builder solvency remain sensitive issues across the sector.

Beattie said the administrators’ immediate objective is to preserve value for customers and creditors while assessing options for the business.

“Half-built homes don’t help anyone,” he said. “We’re hoping to reach an outcome that’s in the best interests of Beechwood’s customers as well as its creditors.”

Those options include an accelerated sale of the operating business as a going concern or transferring existing building contracts to another homebuilder through a deed of company arrangement, Beattie said.

Administrators said they will continue discussions already underway with potential industry acquirers. Those parties are understood to have capacity to complete partially built homes currently on Beechwood’s books.

The process is expected to focus heavily on customers with active projects. Worrells said 38 customers are directly affected by the appointment.
