Global Food & Wine enters voluntary administration as funding search begins

Administrators McGrathNicol seek rescue funding for 70-year-old food and wine wholesaler

Global Food & Wine Group, a Queensland food and beverage wholesaler with roots dating back nearly 70 years, has entered voluntary administration, with Mark Holland, Anthony Connelly and Melissa Smith of McGrathNicol appointed joint and several administrators on 18 August 2026.

The appointments cover Global Food & Wine and four associated companies. The administrators are conducting an urgent review of the group while seeking funding to maintain operations and preserve a potential sale or recapitalisation. They have said they intend, as far as practicable, to continue operating the businesses while working with employees, contractors, suppliers and customers, although some disruption is expected.

The administration places one of Queensland's longstanding hospitality suppliers into a formal restructuring process at a time when the administrators are seeking sufficient liquidity to keep services operating. No details have yet been released on the group's creditor exposure, the immediate cause of its financial difficulties or the amount of funding required.

Headquartered in Nerang on the Gold Coast, Global Food & Wine traces its origins to a small Brisbane warehouse established by John Ceccato in 1957. The family-owned business developed into a major foodservice distributor supplying restaurants, pubs, clubs, cafes, hotels and other hospitality customers. Its website says the group supplies more than 4,000 customers and carries more than 10,000 food, beverage and liquor products.

The group's current website lists warehouse operations on the Gold Coast, in Brisbane, on the Sunshine Coast and in Cairns, with a fleet of more than 100 delivery trucks. Its product range spans dry, chilled and frozen foods, seafood, meat, beverages, wine and other hospitality supplies.

The administrators' immediate priority is securing funding that would allow trading to continue while they assess restructuring alternatives and pursue a sale or recapitalisation.
