IH Sydney Training Services trading as International House Sydney - Voluntary Administration

IH Sydney Training Services trading as International House Sydney, an English language and vocational education and training provider which operates in seven locations across Australia, and two related entities were placed into voluntary administration on 29 November.

International House Sydney has been operating since 1997 but has recently faced issues due to steps taken by the government to curb international enrolments, including the implementation of Ministerial Direction 107 (which prioritised processing student visa caseloads based on the assumed risk level of education providers and the student's country of citizenship), the rising costs of visa fees, and the pending Education Services for Overseas Students Amendment (Quality and Integrity) Bill 2024.

Since August, the company has been working to cut costs, reducing its campus footprint, letting go of contractors, and undertaking staff redundancies. Unfortunately, this was not enough to save the companies, and a creditor put them into voluntary administration.

Glenn Franklin and Paul Allen of PKF Australia were appointed voluntary administrators. There is currently no impact on students while the administrators seek investment or a buyer.
