Migration law firm Gold Migration Lawyers enters liquidation
Visa clients left to manage live matters

Gold Migration Pty Ltd, formerly trading as Gold Migration Lawyers, has entered liquidation after the Melbourne-based migration law practice stopped acting for clients with active visa and tribunal matters. Ian Grant of LangdonGrant was appointed liquidator on 1 June 2026, following communications to clients advising that the firm could no longer act on their matters and that they should urgently appoint another legal representative or registered migration agent.
Gold Migration had marketed itself as a migration law practice focused on partner visas, protection visas, work visas and visa refusal matters, including matters before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and, more recently, the Administrative Review Tribunal. The collapse has left some applicants seeking to confirm the status of their applications, whether filings and supporting material were submitted, and what deadlines remain in place.
The Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner has since appointed an independent manager to the law practice. The regulator said the appointment was made to help protect consumer interests after reports that clients were told the practice would stop operating.
For affected applicants, the immediate issue is continuity. Migration matters often involve strict Department of Home Affairs and tribunal deadlines, and the liquidation of a representative does not pause those obligations. Applicants may need to contact the department or tribunal directly, update contact details, confirm the status of their matter and determine whether a new representative should be appointed. The liquidation also raises questions about client funds held in trust.
The liquidator will investigate the company’s affairs, assess available assets and liabilities, and report to creditors. The outcome for former clients and other creditors remains unclear at this early stage.
