Proud Poppy enters voluntary administration

Australian womenswear retailer Proud Poppy Clothing Pty Ltd has entered voluntary administration, with Kathleen Vouris, Richard Albarran and Marcus Watters of Hall Chadwick appointed joint and several administrators on 5 August 2026.

The retailer continues to trade through its online business and remaining stores while the administrators assess its financial position and restructuring options. A first meeting of creditors is scheduled for 17 August.

Proud Poppy has reduced its physical retail footprint in the lead-up to the administration. The company previously operated seven stores, but its website currently lists locations in Doreen, Victoria, and Gympie and Toowoomba in Queensland. Founder Tara McKeon said three regional stores had closed, while the company has continued promoting new releases and planned pop-up stores.

McKeon described the appointment as a restructuring step rather than a shutdown of the business, saying Proud Poppy was seeking professional assistance after a difficult period for retail and e-commerce businesses.

Founded by McKeon in 2019, Proud Poppy built its business around colourful womenswear and inclusive sizing ranging from sizes 6 to 30. The company was reported in late 2025 to have annual revenue of about $20 million and a workforce of approximately 70 employees.

The administrators have not yet disclosed the company's liabilities, creditor position or the circumstances that led to the appointment.
