Seafood giant enters voluntary administration

FTI Consulting appointed to A. Raptis & Sons Group as administrators explore restructuring or sale after difficult prawn season

The A. Raptis & Sons Group, one of Australia’s largest wild-caught seafood operators, has entered voluntary administration, with administrators now assessing restructuring and sale options for the long-running fishing group.

Ben Campbell, Vaughan Strawbridge and Kathryn Evans of FTI Consulting were appointed voluntary administrators on 6 March 2026 to the A. Raptis & Sons Group, comprising Athanasios Raptis Pty Ltd, Raptis Engineering Pty Ltd, Todreel Pty Ltd, A G Raptis (Karumba) Pty Ltd, Harvest Seafood Australia Pty Ltd, Raptis Fishing Licences Pty Ltd and A Raptis & Sons Pty Ltd.

Founded in the 1950s, the family-established enterprise grew from a small seafood business into one of Australia’s most prominent wild-caught fishing operations. The Brisbane-based group runs a seafood business that includes commercial fishing vessels operating across northern and southern Australian waters, seafood processing operations, and distribution to retail, food service, wholesale and export markets.

According to the administrators, the business experienced operational pressure following a difficult prawn season in 2025, which materially affected the group’s performance. A transaction process for the group was initiated prior to the administration and attracted interest from potential investors. The administrators indicated that they intend to continue exploring restructuring and sale options for the business and assets.
