SimpleMotion enters voluntary administration for second time

Australian theatre and live events technology firm SimpleMotion has entered voluntary administration, with Rajiv Ghedia of Westburn Advisory appointed administrator on 12 January 2026, marking the company’s second formal insolvency process in less than four years.

The Western Sydney based business provides automation, robotics, and custom lighting and motion systems for theatre productions, live events, and commercial installations. It has worked on projects for clients including the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Lyric Theatre and the Art Gallery of New South Wales.

The appointment follows an earlier collapse in 2022, when SimpleMotion entered administration with reported liabilities of approximately $2.29 million, including significant employee entitlements and tax arrears. That process concluded with a deed of company arrangement under which unsecured creditors reportedly received approximately 12 cents in the dollar.

At this stage, the reasons behind the latest administration and the status of ongoing projects have not been confirmed.
