Supernode contractor NuEnergy Infrastructure enters administration
Collapse follows the loss of follow-on work at Queensland’s Supernode battery storage project

NuEnergy Infrastructure (NEI) Pty Ltd, an engineering and infrastructure business involved in the first stages of Queensland’s Supernode battery storage project, has entered voluntary administration after losing its role on the next stage of the development. Mark Holland and Robert Brauer of McGrathNicol were appointed voluntary administrators on 26 May 2026.
NEI had positioned itself as an end-to-end provider to the thermal power, renewable generation and battery energy storage sectors. In February 2025, the company announced that it was working with Quinbrook Infrastructure Partners as design and construction partner for Stages 1 and 2 of the Supernode Battery Storage Project, one of the largest battery storage developments in the Australian National Electricity Market. The Supernode project is being developed at Brendale, north of Brisbane, near the South Pine substation, a key node in Queensland’s transmission network.
The administration follows NEI not being awarded the contract for the next stage of the Supernode project. The administrators said steps were already being taken to wind down the business before their appointment, but it remains too early to determine the likely return to creditors.
