The Essential Ingredient Group of Companies - Voluntary Administration

The Essential Ingredient Group of Companies, a supplier of gourmet food and cookware, entered voluntary administration on 26 September.

The group has been operating for nearly four decades and reportedly employs approximately 60 staff across three stores (one in Sydney and two in Melbourne), as well as a wholesale and online business.

Robert Ditrich, Rebecca Gill and Craig Crosbie of PwC were appointed voluntary administrators, and broadly cited stock losses during COVID closures and the challenges of the post-COVID environment, including higher operating costs, as the reasons for the group’s troubles. They are continuing to trade the business with the goal of achieving a going concern sale.
