1800 Lasagne - Voluntary Administration

1800 Lasagne, a beloved Melbourne restaurant with humble beginnings, entered voluntary administration on July 30, with Todd Gammel and Matthew Levesque-Hocking of HLB Mann Judd appointed administrators.
Founder Joey Kellock started the business in 2020 as a lasagne delivery service during the pandemic, working out of his home kitchen and personally making deliveries from his car. Kellock earned a cult following of loyal supporters and opened the bricks-and-mortar restaurant on High Street in Thornbury later that year.
The administrators have cited “difficult trading conditions”, including under-capitalisation combined with cost-of-living pressures which “led to trading losses, failed expansion plans, historical tax liabilities and an inability to fund the costs of restructure”.
Meanwhile, 1800 Lasagne—Melbourne’s first “hatted” lasagne restaurant—is urging customers to support the restaurant by coming in for food and drinks during the administration period.
