Bonza Aviation - Voluntary Administration

Bonza Aviation, a Queensland-based regional airline carrier, entered voluntary administration on 30 April. 183 flights that were scheduled for the remainder of the week were cancelled, leaving over 33,000 passengers stranded and out-of-pocket. Richard Albarran, Kathleen Vouris, Brent Kijurina and Cameron Shaw of Hall Chadwick were appointed voluntary administrators, and said they are considering options with the assistance of legal advisors Norton Rose Fulbright, including whether the airline will continue to trade during the course of the administration period and what will happen to its 150-strong workforce. The government has also chimed in to clarify it does not intend to bail out Bonza Aviation at this time, but that other airline carriers Qantas, Jetstar, and Virgin had stepped up to bring stranded passengers home.
