All branches of the construction arm of Construction, Forestry and Maritime Employees Union - Administration

All branches of the construction arm of the Construction, Forestry and Maritime Employees Union (CFMEU) have been placed into administration following allegations of bullying, corruption and criminal links.
Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus announced on 23 August that he deemed it in the “public interest” to place the construction arm of the CFMEU into administration, including its Western Australia and ACT branches which were originally thought to be excluded.
The announcement was made a few days after legislation was passed allowing the Fair Work Commission to appoint an administrator and requiring the administration to be in place for at least three years.
The administration reportedly impacts 270 union officers, who have been removed from their mostly volunteer positions, and a further 11 from their paid jobs.
Victorian barrister Mark Irving KC has been appointed as administrator.
