BusTech Group - Voluntary Administration

BusTech Group, the second-largest independent bus manufacturer in Australia with operations in Queensland and South Australia, entered voluntary administration on 12 August, with Ben Verney of Grey House Partners appointed administrator of BusTech (Qld) and BusTech (SA), the two companies that make up the group.
BusTech has a focus on zero emission technology buses but also makes diesel and hybrid vehicles. The group employs more than 270 people across its two locations and is continuing to trade throughout the administration period as the administrator explores options for a sale or restructure.
The reasons behind the administration and the total amount owing to creditors are currently unknown, but a notice posted on the company’s website in late May 2023 indicates that the company had identified issues with buses delivered by the previous owners and management team to customers between 2017 and 2019.
More recently, BusTech entered into a subcontract with Scania to provide supply vehicles to the South Australian government.
