Buyers sought for David Jones as future hangs in balance

David Jones, the struggling department store chain owned by Anchorage Capital Partners, is reportedly being marketed to prospective buyers, including billionaire retailer Brett Blundy, amid mounting speculation that the business could enter voluntary administration or receivership as early as next week, with lender Hilco Capital providing an additional $10 million in financing to support inventory purchases ahead of Christmas, suppliers withdrawing stock or demanding upfront payment, and tensions escalating between the retailer, its lenders and landlords, while McGrathNicol is understood to be involved in efforts to find a buyer.
