Canva to cut staff in major restructure of software company

Canva, the Australian software company valued at approximately US$31 billion, is restructuring its global operations in a move affecting 1,271 employees, or 22% of its workforce, through redundancies, relocations and changes to existing roles, as slowing growth, declining user numbers and mounting competition from artificial intelligence tools prompt chief executive Melanie Perkins to overhaul the business, simplify operations and return to smaller, more autonomous teams.
