Deeds Brewing - Voluntary Administration

Deeds Brewing, a popular Melbourne craft brewery, entered voluntary administration on 13 March.

The brewery pivoted to making and selling its own hand sanitiser during the Covid lockdown, but still accrued a significant tax debt to the ATO during this time.

The company said that it had unsuccessfully attempted to negotiate longer payment terms with the ATO, and that its insurer had recently rejected a claim regarding beer pulled from sale due to contaminated malt.

David Orr and Glen Kanevsky of Deloitte were appointed as administrators and are currently reviewing the business while it continues to operate.
