Grant challenges on the rise for not-for-profits and charities

Andrew Bowcher of RSM warns that tightening government budgets across Australia are driving far more aggressive and technical grant acquittal practices, with funders increasingly clawing back money, refusing rollovers of unspent funds, and excluding core operational costs, creating acute cash flow and viability risks for not-for-profits and charities that now require stronger financial controls, earlier reporting, and insolvency-aware oversight to avoid funding disputes escalating into distress.
