‘Let them fall over’: Rugby Australia director advised against Rebels bailout

Federal Court examination evidence in the former Melbourne Rebels directors’ claim against Rugby Australia has revealed a pre-administration text from then-director Daniel Herbert advising against taking on Rebels debt and saying to “let them fall over”, sharpening the dispute over whether Rugby Australia withdrew support before the club entered voluntary administration owing about $23 million.
