Melbourne Rebels Rugby Union - Voluntary Administration

Melbourne Rebels Rugby Union, an Australian professional rugby union club based in Melbourne with teams in the Super Rugby Pacific and Super Rugby Women's competitions, entered voluntary administration on 29 January.
The club has recently made headlines for racking up debts of up to $10m, with the lion’s share reportedly owing to the ATO and another $1 million owing in rental arrears.
The club's major sponsor BRC Capital is facing serious financial difficulty, with several of its investments having recently been wound up.
Martin Ford and Stephen Longley of PwC were appointed as joint administrators.
Rugby Australia, which is understood to be taking advice from Deloitte, said that it is committed to ensuring the club plays in the 2024 Super Rugby competitions and will support their preparation for the new season.
