More than 400 jobs affected as Mater moves to external pathology providers

Mater, the Queensland healthcare provider, is outsourcing pathology services at its Brisbane and Springfield hospitals in a restructuring affecting more than 400 employees, with over 100 positions to be eliminated within two months and most remaining roles ending in 2027, as rising operating costs and Medicare subsidies that have failed to keep pace with expenses prompt the transition to external providers including Sullivan Nicolaides Pathology and Pathology Queensland.
