More time to sell Australia's Rex as potential buyers circle

Samuel Freeman, Justin Walsh and Adam Nikitins of EY, the voluntary administrators of Rex, have applied to the Federal Court of Australia to extend the convening period of the voluntary administration to December 2025, saying the sale process is progressing positively and that they have narrowed the bidding field. In order to support the extension, if an application is granted by the Federal Court, additional financing of up to $30 million from the Australian Government to the administrators will be made available should it be required to keep regional routes in the air until December. More from the Australian Government.
Anchorage Capital Partners and HMC Group, which operate Aviair and Nexus Airlines, are reported to be among the interested parties, while a Renaissance Partners offer to relocate Rex's base to Canberra, convert its debt to equity, and maintain the company's stock market listing, was reportedly rejected by the administrators as unviable.
