Murrells Hospitality Group collapses owing $1m years after teen died following underage drinking incident

Murrells Hospitality Group, a NSW hotel operator that received a five-year liquor ban following a 2020 underage drinking incident at Temora Hotel in which a teenager later died in a car crash, has entered voluntary administration owing unsecured creditors more than $1 million, including approximately $833,000 to the ATO, with the administrator investigating potential insolvent trading and seeking to recover approximately $516,000 in related-party loans ahead of an October 12 creditors' meeting at which liquidation is expected to be recommended.
