Qenos Group - Voluntary Administration

Qenos Group, Australia’s biggest plastic and chemical manufacturer, entered voluntary administration on 18 April.
The company operates facilities in Altona in Melbourne's west and Botany in Sydney. 450 people are employed at the Melbourne facility and 250 at the Sydney location, which hasn’t operated since February 2023 and is set to close.
Qenos has reportedly suffered from high gas prices and the closure of Exxon's Altona fuel refinery in 2021. The Group’s collapse raises concerns about Australia’s plastic recycling industry, and industry minister Ed Husic has said the government is “actively monitoring the situation”.
Jason Preston, Jason Ireland, Damien Pasfield and Matthew Caddy of McGrathNicol were appointed administrators.
