Sans Pareil group - Case Update

The sole director of the Sans Pareil group companies, which operated a Griffith-based winery, has been ordered to repay approximately $8.5 million in funds siphoned off from the companies for his own personal use.
Gavin Moss of Chifley Advisory was appointed as liquidator of the companies in October 2022.
Following investigations, the liquidator concluded that the companies had incorrectly claimed ITCs arising from fictitious transactions, resulting in approximately $17.2 million in refunds being received by the companies from the ATO.
The liquidator further uncovered approximately $8.5 million personal transactions by the companies’ sole director, who created various fraudulent documents, including bank statements and tax invoices, to support the scheme. These transactions were declared to be unreasonable director-related transactions, and the director was ordered to pay back the funds, as well as the liquidator’s costs.
