Smorgon Fuels - Voluntary Administration

Smorgon Fuels, a Laverton North, Victoria company that produces BioMax Biodiesel, entered voluntary administration on 17 May.

Smorgon Fuels was founded in the 1990s by Victor Smorgon, whose family has a rich history in manufacturing and recycling in Australia and at one point boasted a fortune of more than $2.7 billion.

The company ceased to trade prior to the voluntary administration, but the reasons are currently unknown.

Matthew Hutton, Jason Preston and Mark Holland of McGrathNicol were appointed as voluntary administrators, having been referred the matter by Mills Oakley, legal counsel to Smorgon Fuels.
