South East Brewing Company trading as Kaiju Beer - Voluntary Administration

South East Brewing Company trading as Kaiju Beer, a Huntingdale, Victoria-based brewery, entered voluntary administration on 8 January, citing unsustainable debt levels including excise tax owed to the ATO.

The company has taken several steps to address its debt, including undertaking staff redundancies, pay cuts for directors, overhead cost reductions and a shift in focus to more entry-level products.

The business is now reportedly trading profitably, with the directors working on a DOCA proposal to allow the company to restructure and emerge as a going concern. The brewery is continuing to operate during the administration.

Atle Crowe-Maxwell of DBA Reconstruction and Advisory is the voluntary administrator.
