Swoop Aero - Voluntary Administration

Swoop Aero, a Melbourne-based drone company, and associated company Kookaburra Aerospace, entered voluntary administration on 14 October.

According to Swoop Aero’s website, the company serves over 4.5 million people in 6 continents. Swoop Aero gained widespread recognition when it delivered Covid-19 vaccines via drones to Malawi and Vanuatu.

The company has reportedly raised more than $26 million from investors including Main Sequence Ventures, Giant Leap and US-based In-Q-Tel since its inception in 2017.

Eric Peck, one of the company’s founders, said the administration was a strategic decision made by the board to protect the long-term interests of the business and its stakeholders after a challenging period.

Simon Nelson of BPS Reconstruction and Recovery was appointed administrator.
