What ASIC’s review tells us about voluntary administration

Jeff Marsden of BDO discusses ASIC's review of more than 5,000 voluntary administrations involving approximately $71 billion in liabilities, revealing that 44% resulted in approved DOCAs, with larger companies significantly more likely to achieve a restructuring and unsecured creditors receiving a median dividend of 11.5 cents in the dollar under completed DOCAs, while emphasizing the importance of early intervention, reliable third-party funding and preserving underlying business value to improve restructuring outcomes.
