Andrew Linden of RMIT University highlights how ASIC’s opaque insolvency statistics obscure the true cost of corporate failures, and uses back-of-the-envelope calculations from Series 3 reports and media disclosures to estimate that company and business-related personal insolvencies drained $20–35 billion from creditors in 2023–24.
